Workday 2026R2 introduces a variety of HCM (Human Capital Management) updates designed to help organisations manage their workforce, build effective talent strategies and create better employee experience.

These updates can help teams streamline processes, improve decision-making, and discover additional value from their Workday platform. Every Workday release brings opportunities to work smarter, and 2026R2 is no exception.

Below are the key features and changes that may influence your business.

Workstream Key Updates Feature Description Business Impact
Core HCM Mass Job Change

With this release, you can process high-volume staffing updates using Mass Job Change on Mass Action Tables.

You opt in to Mass Job Change to transition from Mass Actions Worksheets to Mass Job Change Tables including mass Change Organization Assignments and simple Mass Compensation Changes.

For U.S. Federal customers, you can view and process personnel action requests on the Personnel Action Requests tab.

  • Faster Execution Speed: Reduces operational processing time compared with manual data entry, legacy worksheets, or complex EIB file uploads.
  • High-Volume Processing at Scale: Manage and execute up to 5,000 job changes in a single interface.
  • Enhanced Data Accuracy and Risk Reduction: Real-time validations and dynamic delta views highlight field changes before you submit, helping reduce downstream data errors.
  • Greater Agility with Out-of-Sequence Support: Insert job changes for multiple workers even when a worker already has subsequent staffing events scheduled, without manually restructuring events.
  • Scalable Governance and Auditing: Support data sign-offs with integrated mass approvals, comments, and rescinds for compliance and auditability.
  • Empowered HR Operations and HRBPs: Gives HR Business Partners a table-based interface for mass job changes, reducing reliance on central HR Operations and specialized file processing.
  • Flexible Target Population Selection: Select populations using multiple methods—including pasting up to 5,000 worker or position IDs or selecting multiple supervisory organizations (with subordinates)—with worker preview before you generate a table.
This significantly improves the efficiency of large-scale staffing changes, reduces manual effort, and helps decrease downstream data errors through real-time validation and review capabilities.
Change Job New User Experience Initiation Improvements Workday streamlines the initiation of Change Job templates that have the simplified user experience enabled.
This feature improves the user experience when a user initiates a Change Job.

The Change Job initiation process is streamlined by taking users directly into the main business process workflow and dynamically displaying relevant subprocesses. Workday also delays creation of the in-progress event until the user completes the process.

This creates a simpler Change Job experience and reduces unnecessary or accidental in-progress events, helping improve data quality and administrative efficiency.

Enhanced Change Job Experience Conversion Workday is retiring the old Change Job Experience and moving to the New Enhanced Change Job Experience for 26R2. To help complete the move, we deliver a conversion to support the deprecation of the legacy Change Job experience.
The conversion will:
  • Migrate legacy Start Job Change user interface templates to the new enhanced user interface.
  • Generate new templates if they don’t exist in your tenant for these initiating actions: Change Job, Request Transfer, Change Location, Change Contingent Worker Details.
  • Perform a security conversion if you don’t have an active template configured for the Change Job initiating action. That security conversion will map domain security groups to Configure Optional Fields and unconstrained role-based security groups to Maintain Functionality for Staffing Transactions.
  • Not perform the security conversion if you have an active template configured for the Change Job initiating action.
This conversion automatically migrates any customers who have not yet adopted the enhanced Change Job experience.

This helps organizations transition to the modern Change Job experience while minimizing manual conversion effort and maintaining existing configurations where applicable.
Override Change Job Field Access Using Security Groups

Workday enables you to configure security groups for specific Change Job template fields.

This provides you with further flexibility when configuring which users can access which Change Job template fields.

Organizations can configure security groups for specific fields on Change Job templates, providing more granular control over field access.

This gives administrators greater flexibility to align Change Job field visibility and editability with organizational roles and security requirements.

Correct Change Job – Editable Fields Configuration

With this release, Workday provides you with more control over three correctable fields in the enhanced user experience for Change Job.

This feature provides you with the ability to control who can edit these fields when correcting a Change Job event: Supervisory Organization, Position, and Headcount Option.

Administrators can control who can edit Supervisory Organization, Position, and Headcount Option when correcting a Change Job event.

This provides greater control over staffing corrections while allowing organizations to align correction capabilities with their security.

Effective Dating for Service Dates

You can now add effective dates to service date changes.

This feature enables you to accurately track service date changes for workers in Workday, reduces downstream impacts to calculations, and improves reporting.

This improves the accuracy and traceability of service date information, supports more reliable calculations and reporting, and provides greater visibility to historical changes.
Worker Addresses Purgeable Data Type

Workday delivers the new Worker Addresses Purgeable Data Type (PDT) that enables you to permanently remove home and work addresses for active workers and terminated workers.

The new PDT increases your control over your data and supports data protection and global data compliance requirements, including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. The PDT includes Workday-delivered validations to block or warn against a data purge that will be impactful to a dependent process such a worker pay or benefits.

This provides greater control over personal data retention and supports data protection and compliance requirements while helping prevent accidental disruption of dependent processes.
Employee Experience Change Personal Information New User Experience

With this release, we introduce a redesigned user experience for standalone and onboarding personal information business processes. This user experience provides a step-by-step guided workflow that incorporates active consent preferences, introduces an intuitive grouping of fields, and replaces field-level help text with Quick Tips. This enhancement improves the employee and administrative experience by unifying personal data collection to reduce manual administrative tasks.

The new intuitive groupings of fields and configured Quick Tips easily guide employees through personal data updates. Additionally, a final confirmation step clearly displays added, changed, or removed data, which significantly reduces data entry errors before submission.

This creates a more intuitive employee experience, reduces administrative effort, and helps minimize data-entry errors before personal information changes are submitted.
Integrations Job Profile Queries in Workday Graph API Schema Workday continues to grow the Workday Graph API schema version v1, providing Workday Extend apps read access to more job profile data using Graph API.
Extend apps can access more comprehensive data using Graph API.
This enables Extend applications to access more comprehensive job profile information, supporting richer applications and more connected HR experiences.
Get Workers REST API Workday updates the Get Workers REST API to include an additional filter parameter and return pre-hire records.
You can search for existing pre-hire records, supporting applications in preventing duplicate entries.
This supports in identifying existing pre-hires and reducing the risk of duplicate worker records.
Document Security for Hiring Integrations With this release, Workday enables you to secure documents generated by Kenexa and Unistaff integration events. We also enable you to suppress Workday web service audit files for Kenexa and Unistaff integrations.
This enhancement helps you comply with security policies by giving you more control over access to integration output files.
This strengthens control over sensitive integration output from Kenexa and Unistaff integrations.
Recruiting Feature Opt-In Removed for Restrict Job Profile Visibility by Country and Organization on Job Requisition Tasks

Workday now enables you to restrict the visibility of job profiles by specific supervisory organizations, companies, countries, or a combination of all three on all job requisition tasks. During these transactions, users will only see job profiles that are valid for that event based on your configured restrictions.

This feature applies to the following prompt folders: By Job Family, With Work Study, and With Unions. This feature now doesn’t require you to opt-in before you set it up.
This feature ensures users are only able to see and choose from job profiles that are appropriate for certain job requisition transactions. It enables you to have distinct job profiles across different portions of your business, which improves the user experience and decreases data discrepancies.

This helps recruiters and HR users select appropriate job profiles for specific parts of the organization, improving data consistency, and reducing the risk of incorrect job profile selection.
System Time Zones for Non-Supervisory Organizations

Workday improves time zone behavior for non-supervisory organization hierarchies in Workday.

This improves time zone functionality by aligning effective dating for non-supervisory organization hierarchies with the tenant’s default time zone, resolving reporting inaccuracies.

This improves the accuracy and consistency of changes and reporting for organizations operating across multiple time zones.
Time Zones

We continue to build on the Time Zones feature, which delivers a consistent global time zone processing experience, enabling you to maintain accurate data in real-time for users across multiple geographies and time zones.

When a transaction occurs outside of Pacific Standard Time, we evaluate reporting, events, as well as date-driven warnings and errors to now respect the processing user’s local time zone.
Improves accuracy of real-time data processing for users across multiple geographies and time zones.

This improves the accuracy and consistency of real-time processing for organizations with users working across multiple geographies and time zones.
